Attachments
Putting a file on a record, and where it actually lives.
Records carry attachments: the signed contract on the purchase order, the delivery note on the receipt, the scan on the supplier invoice. An attachment is stored against the record and travels with it — opening the record from a list, from a report drill-down or from a link shows the same files.
- Files can be uploaded from your machine or picked from a connected drive, in which case the platform keeps the reference rather than a second copy.
- Who attached what, and when, is recorded. Attachments are part of the record’s history, not decoration on it.
- A record whose lines have frozen still accepts attachments. Freezing protects the numbers that produced postings; it is not a reason to refuse the paperwork that justifies them.
If the document you want to attach is itself the source of the record — a supplier invoice you are about to key in — try Create from document instead. It reads the file and offers a filled-in form.
