GSTR-1 for the portal, and reconciling GSTR-2B
GSTR-1 now carries the HSN summary and the documents issued per series, and downloads as the JSON the GST portal’s offline tool takes. GSTR-2B Reconciliation imports the portal’s GSTR-2B and matches it against your purchase invoices.
GSTR-1
- Accounting → Close & Compliance → GST Returns → GST Returns → Compute GSTR-1, for a GSTIN and month.
- The HSN summary is built from each line’s HSN, or its item’s, with the description and UQC, split into its B2B and B2C halves. GSTR-1 Detail shows HSN, HSN description and UQC for every line.
- Documents issued is reported per series: the GST Document Series of each GSTIN.
- GSTR-1 JSON downloads the return in the offline tool’s shape (b2b, b2cl, b2cs, cdnr, cdnur, exp, hsn, doc_issue), ready to upload to the portal.
GSTR-2B
- On the GST portal: Returns → GSTR-2B → Download JSON for the month.
- Accounting → Close & Compliance → GST Returns → GSTR-2B Reconciliation → Import GSTR-2B: choose the GSTIN, the JSON file, and a Tolerance in rupees (₹1 if left empty; a difference up to it still counts as a match).
- Each supplier document is matched against the AP invoices by the supplier’s GSTIN, the invoice number and the amount. The import counts the lines Matched, Different, filed but Not booked, and booked but Not filed, with the IGST, CGST and SGST.
- Lines (or GSTR-2B Lines) shows every document and every purchase invoice of the month, what it matched, the difference, the input tax credit and why it did not match.
Not booked usually means a purchase invoice still to be entered; Not filed means the supplier has not reported it, and the credit cannot yet be claimed.
