Getting started
Signing in, what the screen is made of, and how to reach any of the 845 screens in under ten seconds.
TRANXACT is one platform with ten business modules and a platform module, sharing one database, one set of permissions and one book of record. What you can see and do is decided by the roles you hold and the company you are working in, so two people signed into the same deployment can be looking at genuinely different consoles.
Signing in
- Open the address your administrator gave you and enter your email and password. The sign-in address and the address documents are emailed to are separate settings — changing one does not change the other.
- If your account reaches more than one company, pick the one you mean to work in from the switcher in the top bar. Everything below is scoped to it.
- If your organization uses single sign-on, the password box is replaced by your identity provider. Your roles still come from TRANXACT.
Sessions end on their own after a period of inactivity, and you are warned before it happens with enough time to save what you are doing. Signing out ends the session on the server, not just in the browser — so a session left open on a shared machine can be ended from another one.
What the screen is made of
- A row of module tabs across the top — Accounting, CRM, HRMS, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Student Lifecycle, EHR, Contingent Workforce, Agentic, Platform and Help. You only see the ones your roles reach.
- The company and business-unit switcher, which scopes every list, every report and every total beneath it.
- Your name, which opens your own preferences: date format, number format, time zone, default printer, and who you are in each module.
- A module page of tiles, arranged into sections and — on the larger modules — into groups of sections above those.
- ASK, in the corner of every screen, which answers questions about your data and can carry out work for you.
The navigation can be drawn as a row of tabs across the top or as a rail down the side; that is a personal preference, not an administrator setting, and it changes nothing about what is there.
Finding a screen
There are 845 screens. Three ways to reach one, in the order most people end up using them:
- Search. The navigation search matches screen names, section names and module names at once, so typing "aging" reaches the aging matrix without your knowing which module keeps it.
- The module page. Open the tab, read down the groups to the section you want, and take the tile.
- The address. Every screen has a stable address of the form /module/screen, so a link to one can be pasted into a message or bookmarked, and it will still be that screen next release.
A link to a record works the same way and carries the record: /accounting/ap-invoices/<id> opens that invoice, not the list. This is the thing worth telling a colleague who has asked you which screen you mean.
The first ten minutes
- Set your preferences. The date and number formats are applied to every figure on every screen, so getting them right once fixes the whole console rather than one report.
- Set your default organizational unit, and your cost centre, personnel number and work centre if you have them. Those are what make new records default sensibly instead of asking you the same question all day.
- Open the module you work in and read the section headings rather than the tiles. The sections are the mental model; the tiles are the detail.
- Open one list and use the filter bar once. Everything on every list — search, conditions, sort, totals, export, saved views — behaves identically, so this is the one piece of mechanics worth learning deliberately.
