Questions people actually ask
The dozen things that come up in the first month.
A screen I was told about is not in my navigation.
Your roles do not reach it, or it belongs to another module than you expect, or it has no tile and is reached from a record. Search for it by name first — search sees everything you are entitled to.
The numbers on my screen do not match my colleague’s.
Check the company and business-unit switcher before anything else. A unit narrows every list to that unit and everything beneath it, so two people on the same screen in different units are correctly seeing different totals.
There is no Edit button on a record I need to fix.
The screen will say why in place of the button. It is one of five reasons — see What may be changed. The most common are that the document has posted and that its fiscal period is closed, and those have different answers.
My journal will not save.
Debits must equal credits. The check is in the posting service rather than the form, so it holds for an imported journal too.
I need a new value in a dropdown.
Almost always a classification list under Platform → Configuration, which an administrator can extend immediately. If it is a lookup rather than a list, the record it points at has not been created yet.
My dates and decimals are in the wrong format.
Your preferences, behind your name. They are per user per company, so setting them in one company does not set them in the other.
I have four hundred rows to enter.
Do not type them. Every list screen accepts a spreadsheet, and the import runs through the same rules as typing would.
The scheduled import has not run.
Check whether it is armed. A seeded or copied schedule arrives disarmed on purpose.
A report shows fewer panels than my colleague’s.
A panel whose data you are not entitled to is dropped and named rather than quietly reducing a total. What you are seeing is correct for you.
The amounts do not say which currency they are in.
Look at the column heading. Where every row is in the company’s currency it is said once in the heading rather than on each of fifty rows.
An invoice printed with the wrong layout.
Form templates are records you can edit. Copy the shipped template rather than editing it — your copy survives the next release.
Can I undo something?
Postings are reversed, not deleted, because the trail is the point. Reverse the document or raise a credit memo; the original stays and says what happened.
