Glossary

The words this platform uses, and what it means by them.

Term	What it means here
Module	A body of work with its own records — one tab across the top.
Group	A handful of related sections, on the modules large enough to need the level.
Section	A shelf of screens that belong together.
Screen	One list, report or workspace, with an address of its own.
Resource	What a screen is a view of — the kind of record it holds.
Company	A legal entity. Data is fully segregated between companies.
Unit	A node in the tree inside a company: business unit, division, department, cost centre, site.
Cube	An analytical model over records a module writes: the dimensions you may cut by and the figures you may cut.
Readiness	On the migration readiness dashboard: the share of what a cutover has in scope that is Ready — at least 98% of its rows passed, and it reconciles.
Reconciled	A migration step whose every stage is done, with no row still waiting and every record it created still present.
Dimension	Something to cut a figure by — a date, a customer, a cost centre.
Key figure	Something measured — a sum, a count, an average, a ratio. Defined once and shared by every report that uses it.
Commitment	Money promised but not yet invoiced. Deducted from the budget at the moment of the promise.
Effective dating	A record that carries a window, so asking as at a date returns what was in force then.
Saved view	A list or report kept exactly as arranged, including the words typed into search.
Posting	Writing a financial event to the ledger. Balanced, dated into an open period, and not deleted afterwards.
Reversal	The way a posting is undone: an opposite posting, leaving both on the record.
Immutable	A record that does not change because not changing is the point of keeping it.
Classification list	A configurable list of values behind a dropdown, maintained per company.
Number range	The rule that decides how a document gets its number.
Drive	A connected place your files already are.
Agent	A standing instruction: watch for a condition and act when it holds.
Exposure	A decision that one screen may be read from outside this company, and which columns and rows of it.
API client	A piece of outside software holding a key, acting as a named user of this company.
MCP	Model Context Protocol — how an AI agent is told which tools it has. TRANXACT serves the published data as one.
Hand-over	Your "Needs your attention" list shown on a colleague’s dashboard for the days you are away. It ends by itself on the last day.
Forward	One attention item put on somebody else’s dashboard until a date, with Recall to take it back.
Direct connection	A connection straight to a host and port over a network path such as a VPN, rather than to an HTTPS address.
Mutual TLS	A connection on which the server checks TRANXACT’s client certificate as well as TRANXACT checking the server’s.
Retention policy	A company’s rule for archiving or purging one kind of finished data once it is old and untouched. None is shipped.
Archive	Moved out of the live tables and kept, readable and restorable.
Purge	Deleted, for good.
Reporting currency	The company’s own currency. Every total is in it, and a row in another currency shows its value in it with "≈".
License key	A statement signed by TRANXACT of what an installation is licensed on. The only way the license basis, rate or revenue figure changes.
Planned separation	A leaving recorded ahead of its date with Plan separation. The employee stays as they are until the date, when it is applied by itself.
Serial number	The number of one unit of an item. Recorded against the goods-receipt line that brought the unit in, and never used twice for the same item.
Data unit	One gigabyte (1,000,000,000 bytes) of data taken in, sent out, kept on disk, processed or held in backups, as the data meter counts it.
