Time Policies
How time is captured and counted for a pay group, the people an overtime rule governs, or the whole company: clock punches required or hours typed allowed, whether the browser’s position is asked for, rounding, and a premium for working a holiday.

The form
What is asked for when a record is created here. Required fields are marked; a choice drawn from a configuration list is one an administrator can extend without a release.
| Field | Type | Choices | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Code required | Text | ||
| Name required | Text | ||
| Description | Long text | ||
| Pay group | Choice | Looked up from existing records | Everybody in this pay group (an hourly group under its own agreement, for one). |
| Overtime rule | Choice | Looked up from existing records | Or: the people this overtime rule is chosen for, on their record or their pay group. |
| Location | Choice | Looked up from existing records | Or: punches made at this location. Only its position setting is read, and it can only make it stricter. |
| Company default | Yes or no | Governs everybody no other policy does. Names no pay group, rule or location. | |
| Worked time comes from | Choice | manual_allowed — hours may be typed, or punched, punch_required — clock punches only (corrections approved by a manager) | |
| Position with each punch | Choice | off — not asked for, never kept, optional — kept when the browser allows it, required — a punch without it is refused | |
| Round to (minutes) | Number | Empty: no rounding. 6 is a tenth of an hour, 15 a quarter. Breaks are never rounded. | |
| Rounding | Choice | nearest, up, down | Nearest is neutral over time and the default. |
| Grace at the start (minutes) | Number | A clock-in this close to the scheduled start counts as the start. Needs a shift or work schedule. | |
| Grace at the end (minutes) | Number | ||
| Holiday premium earning code | Choice | Looked up from existing records | Hours worked on a holiday of the person’s calendar earn this, on top of their pay. |
| Premium: × the hourly rate | Number | For a rate-times-hours code. 0.5 adds half again; 1.5 adds one and a half. | |
| Premium: flat amount for the day | Number | Or this, for a flat-amount code. Not both. | |
| Active | Yes or no |
The rules that apply here
Everything on this screen obeys the platform rules rather than rules of its own. The ones worth knowing before you use it:
- Narrowing a list — search, conditions, sort, totals, export and saved views.
- What may be changed — the five grounds a record may not be edited on.
- Companies and business units — what the switcher above this list is doing to it.
- Creating a record — required fields, where choices come from, and how the number is allocated.
- Importing a spreadsheet — this screen accepts one, and it runs through the same rules as typing.
