An agent from draft to running: model, owner, Publish and Enabled
An agent needs a Model from the list and an Owner, is published as a numbered version to become active, and runs only while Enabled. Runs name the model that answered and their cost, or say the cost is unknown.
- Agentic AI › Build › Agents › New. Engine is required and starts at the company default engine (Platform › AI Providers); choose another if you want one. An engine with no key for this company is greyed with the reason.
- Pick the Model from the list: the models of that engine, greyed until an Engine is chosen. It is required before the agent can be published or run.
- Owner is the person answerable for what the agent does; on a new agent it is you. It is required to publish or to give the agent more autonomy than Suggest only, and it cannot be cleared.
- The agent is a Draft. Press Next step › Publish: Publish version 1 and make this agent active, with What changed (First version.). Status reads active and Run it is offered.
- Edit later and the runs keep using the last published version until you Publish a new version of what you changed. With nothing changed, Publish says there is nothing to publish.
- Untick Enabled to switch the agent off without retiring it: it does not run by hand or on a trigger. Enabled does not make a draft runnable — Publish does.
Reading a run
- Agent Runs show Model used, Refused calls, Cost and Cost basis. Cost is the model’s list price converted to the company’s currency at its USD rate — or Cost unknown when there is no price on file for the model or no rate, never a misleading 0.00.
- A run whose every tool call was refused ends failed: “None of its N tool call(s) went through.” A run where only some were refused succeeds and says how many.
- A run waiting on an approval that expires unanswered is cancelled: “Stopped: approval … was not answered before it expired … Nothing it asked for was done.” The approval reads “Nobody answered before it expired.” and its waiting hours stop at the expiry.
- The Agent Runs card on the module home adds up to its total; small statuses are grouped as Other.
