Importing configurations from a spreadsheet
Many configurations of one model — TG310, say — in one file, from a template whose columns are that model’s own questions.
Supply Chain › Configurations › Import asks which model first, because the template is the model’s: a Customer, Quantity and Notes column, then one column for each question (option class) and one for each value to fill in, such as a stem length.
- Open Supply Chain › Product Configurator › Configurations and press Import (or Template).
- Choose the model and press Download the template.
- Fill in one row per configuration. The second row lists what each question accepts — option codes, or the range a value may take; leave it in or delete it, a row starting with # is never imported.
- Choose the file and press Check. Every row is made through the configurator and rolled back, so the model’s own rules are judged before anything is written.
- Press Import. Each row becomes a configuration with its own number; a row that is refused leaves nothing behind and does not stop the others.
| Column | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| Customer | Account number or name. Leave it empty for a trial of a model that is not yet released. |
| Quantity | How many; 1 when empty. |
| A question | One option code (or name). Where a question allows several, separate them with ; |
| A value | The number or text asked for, within the bounds shown in the second row. Filling it in chooses that option. |
Through the Migration Cockpit
Configurations coming across from an old system can go through the cockpit instead, with the same answers. Give the migration object Supply Chain › configurations as its target; its template (the object’s Download template) is then the model’s questions with a Model column, and Suggest a map matches each question by its name or code. Check the rows and Load them make each configuration through the configurator with every answer in the extract — the customer by account number or name, the model by its number.
A draft model can be tried without a customer, but a row naming a customer is refused until the model is Released. The dialog says so before you fill anything in.
Importing configurations needs the Add permission on Configurations; downloading the template needs Display. Both are granted on Administration › Roles like any other screen.
