Give a customer their own portal sign-in

Invite a person at a customer; they see only their own invoices, orders, quotations, cases and returns.

The customer portal is a separate sign-in for people at your customers. They never see the console. Everything they see is confined to their own account: invoices with what is owed and how overdue, each as your printed PDF; orders and their shipments; quotations they can accept; the cases they raise; and the returns they request and follow. It uses the same sign-in as the supplier portal, but a customer sign-in opens only the customer portal and a supplier sign-in only the supplier portal.

1. CRM > Customer Portal > Customer Portal Users > New: choose the customer, give the person's name and email, and save.
2. The invitation is emailed where mail is set up, and the link is shown in the message so you can pass it on. It works once and expires after the number of days set under Sign-in security.
3. They set a password from the link and sign in at /portal/customer.
4. Under Customer Portal Settings choose what the portal offers, and with Sign-in security whether a second step is required of everybody, how long sessions last, and whether the portal is switched on.

• A portal sign-in cannot open any part of the console or the API outside the portal.
• Accepting a quotation in the portal makes the sales order by the same rules as the Accept button.
• Cases raised in the portal are ordinary CRM cases. Only case lines marked visible to the customer are shown to them.
• Pay online is offered only where a default payment provider is configured.
• A return requested in the portal is an ordinary Supply Chain return on the Returns screen, marked as from the portal, waiting for your approval. The customer follows it in the portal.
