Appointment reminders are sent for you
Booking an appointment schedules two reminders (an email a week before, a text the day before). The Appointment reminders job now sends them when they fall due, once, and only by a channel the patient allows.
Each reminder on EHR, Patient Access, Appointment Reminders shows what happened to it: sent, queued (in the email outbox until a mail transport is set up), skipped (the patient said no, or there is no number or address), failed (nothing is connected that can send a text), or cancelled (the visit was cancelled or has passed).
- The patient's own portal switches decide: text reminders off means no text, and the reminder is not sent by email instead.
- A patient with no portal account can be marked No reminders on the patient record.
- Texts go through whatever can send a message under CRM, Interaction Centre, Connected Channels (Twilio, Vonage and the like). Email goes through Platform, Email.
- Open Platform, Batch, Schedules and find Appointment reminders.
- Choose who it runs as and save. It runs every hour from then on.
