Uploading a file when the file store is not answering
An upload is kept even when the company's file store cannot be reached: the file is saved in the database instead, after the same checks as any other upload.
Documents are normally kept in a separate file store. If that store does not answer in time, the upload is no longer refused with an error. The file is saved in the main database instead, and you can open, download and attach it straight away.
- The file is inspected exactly as before: the virus and file-type checks run first, and a file they refuse is still refused.
- The size limit is the same. A file over the company's limit is refused whether or not the file store is answering.
- The document records where it was kept and why, and the audit entry for the upload says it was kept in the database because the file store could not be reached.
- While the file store stays unreachable, further uploads go straight to the database for about a minute instead of each one waiting for the store to time out. The store is tried again after that.
Nothing needs to be done by the person uploading. An administrator can move these documents into the file store later with the same document move used for older documents.
