Serial numbers when completing production and delivering
A serial-controlled item is received from production with a serial number per unit, and delivered with the serial numbers of the units picked.
Completing a production order for a serial-controlled item asks for one serial number per good unit.
- In Complete, choose the finished-goods bin, then type the serial numbers one per line or separated by commas, or tick the box to allocate them from the item's serial prefix.
- The count must match the good quantity, and a number already on file for the item is refused.
- On a delivery, open the Lines tab, set the bin each line is picked from, and use Record serials on a serial-controlled line.
- Give exactly one serial number per unit. Each must be a unit of that item that is in stock, in the bin the line picks from, and not already picked on another delivery.
- Post goods issue then ships those units, and each unit's history shows the delivery.
A production order can now be raised from a bill of material whose status is released as well as active.
