Cost and price of a configured quotation line
After the questions, Configure on a quotation line shows Cost and price: the bill of material and routing the answers resolve to, the cost by kind, anything costed at nothing, and a markup or price with its margin — then Use this configuration at that price.
- Open the quotation, go to Lines and press Configure on the line of the configurable product.
- Answer every required question. Cost and price appears under the questions.
- Show the Bill of material (every part, every level, per one of the product) and the Routing (operation, work centre, setup and run minutes, operations done outside).
- Read the cost per unit by kind: Material, Labour (work-centre labour rate × time), Machine (work-centre machine rate × time), Subcontract (operations done outside) and Setup, overhead and other (setup spread over the quantity, overhead, scrap, freight, packaging).
- Type a Markup % to get the Selling price each, or type a selling price to see the markup it means; the Margin is shown beside it.
- Press Use this configuration at <price>. The line takes that price.
- Parts and operations costed at nothing are listed by name under "Costed at nothing — give these a cost before relying on the figure", instead of a quiet 0.00. A bought part with no standard cost is costed at what it was last bought for.
- Figures are shown in the quotation’s currency.
- The quotation’s lines show Unit cost and Margin % for a configured line.
- Cost and price, Unit cost and Margin % are shown only to people whose role grants display on Supply Chain › Product Configurator › Configured · Cost Sheet. Anybody else keeps Use this configuration at the configurator’s price and can type their own price on the line; the cost is withheld from them everywhere, including the 360° view, printed documents and ASK.
Same currency, no exchange rate
A model’s Currency is kept as a currency code. A model whose Currency was typed as a name (Indian Rupee) is read as its code (INR), so an INR quotation line is priced without asking for an exchange rate. An exchange rate is asked for only when the quotation really is in another currency.
