Invoice lines post to their own accounts and cost centers
Each line of a customer invoice or a supplier bill without a purchase order posts to the GL account and cost center written on that line.
- A student bill's fee lines carry the fee's GL account and cost center, so tuition goes to the tuition revenue account and to the school's profit center.
- A staffing client invoice credits the staffing revenue account, on the invoice's cost center. A contractor's pay record goes to the cost of placements account, on the placement's cost center.
- An invoice raised for a revenue contract's billing schedule credits the contract liability. The revenue run then moves it to revenue as the obligation is satisfied, so revenue is counted once.
- Lines that name no account or cost center post as before, to the default revenue or expense account and the invoice's cost center.
