Cash application: bank receipts applied to open invoices

Money-in bank lines are matched to the open customer invoices they pay, by the invoice number in the remittance, the payer and the amount; confident matches are applied, the rest wait with a suggestion.

The matcher reads each money-in bank line that is not yet matched, posted or set aside. An invoice number in the remittance text counts whatever the separators (INV-000123, INV 000123 and inv000123 are the same number). One payment may pay several invoices, oldest due first, and may pay part of one. Only invoices in the bank line's currency are matched.

  • 95%: the remittance names one invoice and the amount is what is open on it (92% for several named together); plus 5 when the payer is the customer.
  • 80%: a part payment of a named invoice. A short payment waits for a person by default.
  • 80%: the payer is the customer and exactly one of their invoices is open at that amount.
  • Lower: the amount alone, or several candidates. Below the suggest threshold nothing is suggested.
  1. Open Accounting, Finance Automation, Cash Application.
  2. Press Match bank receipts now (the daily job does the same).
  3. For a suggestion, press Why to see what was read, Apply to raise the receipt (change the amount if you need to), or Turn down so it is not suggested for that line again.

Nothing is applied twice: a bank line already applied is never applied again, and what is applied can never exceed the bank line. A bank line applied as receipts cannot be unmatched; reverse the receipts instead.
