Fixing people who could not be placed on the Organisation Chart
When reporting lines loop back on themselves, the chart lists the people in each loop by name and employee number, names the link that closes the loop, and offers a button to break it.
A loop is, for example, A reports to B and B reports to A. Nobody in a loop can be placed, nor can anybody who reports into it. The red message above the chart lists each loop in order.
- Read the loop: each person reports to the next one listed, and the last reports to the first.
- Closing link names the manager most recently set in that loop, which is usually the mistake.
- Choose Remove the manager of <name (employee number)> to break the loop there, and confirm. Or choose Open <name> to correct the manager on the employee record.
- Everybody in the loop and below it returns to the chart. Drag the person under the right manager afterwards if they need one.
