Teaching: only the sections you teach, and My Teaching
In Student Lifecycle a teacher sets work, takes registers and enters marks only for the sections they lead or are on the teaching team of. My Teaching opens on today’s classes and what needs doing; a head of department, dean, registrar or exams officer can act on any section.
The teaching rule
- A member of faculty may set or change work (Assignments), set assessments and enter their marks (Assessments, Results), take the register (Attendance Marks) and grade hand-ins only for a section they teach — as its lead (Taught by) or on its Teaching Team.
- The Section box on those forms offers only your sections, and the lists show only your sections’ work, attendance and classes.
- Anything else is refused, naming the section and listing the sections you do teach.
- Your sign-in is matched to a Faculty record by its employee record or its email, and only active faculty count. If neither is set, ask an administrator to link it on the Faculty record.
The grant Any section (head of department, dean, registrar) under Roles & authorizations lets a role act on every section. Head of Department, Dean, Registrar and Exams Officer have it by default; the administrator always can.
Teaching teams
- Open Student Lifecycle › Faculty & Advising › Teaching Teams (or Teaching team on a section) and press New.
- Choose the Section, the Member of faculty and the Role: co teacher, demonstrator, tutor, lab instructor or examiner.
- Save. The member may now take the section’s register, set its work and enter its marks, and has it on their own timetable.
Nobody is put in two classes at once: adding a team member, or changing a section’s lead, whose timetable clashes is refused with “<Name> already teaches then: …”. The section’s lead is not added to its own team.
My Teaching
- Student Lifecycle › Teaching & Delivery › My Teaching opens on Sections I teach, Students, Classes today, Registers not taken, Below attendance minimum, Work to mark and Average attendance.
- Today lists your classes with Take register; then one card per course, with each section’s attendance, registers not taken and work to mark, and Open, Register and Set work.
- Open a section for its tabs: Students, Register, Work set, Marks, and Timetable & team.
- With the Any section grant, Whose teaching lets you look at a colleague’s sections or every section.
