Payment proposals that catch early-payment discounts
A payment proposal can be made for you, by due date and by discount: a bill on 2/10 net 30 is proposed while its discount stands, paid net, and the discount is taken as a credit memo when the proposal is released.
The proposal is the one under Supply Chain, Payment Proposals. It includes every posted bill due within the horizon, and every bill whose early-payment discount ends within it, on the supplier's own payment terms. A supplier on payment hold, or whose financials say not to take discounts, is respected; bills in another currency than the account's are left out and said.
- Open Accounting, Banking, Payment Batches, and press Propose payments (or let the weekly job do it).
- The proposal appears under Supply Chain, Payment Proposals as a draft. Somebody other than the person it was made as approves it, then releases it.
- Releasing takes each discount as a posted credit memo against its invoice and raises a draft payment batch for the net amounts. Approve, generate and transmit the batch as usual.
Nothing is paid by a proposal. A new automatic proposal replaces the last automatic one nobody acted on.
