Ask: real names for you, Confirm for every change, and your own clock

Ask restores names, e-mails and addresses for you while the AI engine only ever sees stand-ins; every change waits for Confirm; dates are on your own time zone and in your date format; records named by code are found; self-service changes land on the ESS screen.

Personal data

  • Names, e-mails and addresses are replaced by stand-ins before anything is sent to the AI engine (see What ASK and the AI engines never see). The stand-ins are now put back in what Ask does and shows you — the change it lists, the Confirm card and the reply — and never in anything sent back to the engine.
  • The mapping is kept for the conversation, sealed to your company and to you, so a later question can still refer to the same person.
  • A stand-in that nothing maps to is refused rather than written into a record.
  • Dates and ordinary words are never taken for names.

Confirm for every change

Anything that would change data now waits for Confirm, including a bill-run preview, an estimate, a landed-cost preview, a support ticket and a dashboard pin. Only requests known to write nothing go ahead without it. Ask may still offer to raise a ticket while answering a question.

Your clock and your date format

  • Ask works on your time zone — your preference, else the company’s, else your browser’s — so “today” is your today.
  • Times given without a zone are taken in your zone; dates in replies are in your date format.

Finding records, and where Ask opens

  • A record named by its code or document number (a premise PRM-…, a work order WO-…) is found.
  • Somebody whose roles open Employee Self Service can ask for their leave, pay and time and decide team approvals, and a self-service change opens on its ESS screen. Nothing else is widened: the module, the grants and Confirm still apply.
  • Simple read-only lookups are given a few more rounds to open the screen they need.

Since 19 October the server itself refuses a change made without Confirm, and people can be named by name or e-mail. See Ask: nothing changes without Confirm, dates your way, people by name, and Assigned to me.
