Outbound EDI and carrier tracking

Customers who trade by EDI get the 855 when their order is confirmed, the 856 when it ships and the 810 when it is invoiced. Carrier tracking is pulled through a carrier connector.

  • A customer gets EDI documents automatically when they are an active EDI trading partner and their site does not say documents go another way. Each document is sent once.
  • A carrier account whose logistics provider speaks REST, with a base URL, is asked for tracking on every shipment still out. Each event is recorded once, and a delivered event marks the shipment delivered.
  • A manual carrier rates from the rate card in the rule's settings and pulls no tracking: its events are entered by hand, as before.

Connections to named carriers' own APIs (UPS, FedEx, DHL and others) need the company's own credentials and are not part of this release. The connector interface is ready for them.
