Counting fixed assets, and printing their labels

Supply Chain → Warehouse → Goods Movement → Fixed Asset. A physical verification on the handheld, the six views of a count, and asset barcode labels.

The Fixed Asset tile on the Goods Movement handheld holds two applications. Fixed Asset Details is the count: scan an asset, check its register entry, record what you found. Fixed Asset Barcode Label finds assets and prints the labels you scan.

Counting an asset

  1. Scan the asset’s barcode, or type its number or barcode into the scan box, or search by name, serial or description.
  2. Its register entry opens: company code, cost center, barcode object, asset number and description, the asset under construction it came from, class, location, capitalization date, WBS, purchase order and date, supplier, acquisition value, material and equipment.
  3. Press Next. Enter the date of count (today, or earlier — never later), the condition — Working, Non-working or Missing — the quantity found and a remark, and Save.

A working or non-working asset was seen, so its "last verified" date moves forward; a missing one was not, so it does not.

The six views

ViewWhat it holds
All AssetsEvery asset on the register that is not retired or disposed.
WorkingCounted in this count and found working.
Non-WorkingCounted and found, but not working.
UnscannedNot counted yet in this count.
DuplicateOne barcode on two assets, or one asset counted twice in this count — the finding a count exists to surface.
MissingLooked for and not found.

"This count" is everything since the Counted since date — the first of the year unless you change it. Reports exports the view you are on to a spreadsheet.

Printing asset labels

  1. Open Fixed Asset Barcode Label. Narrow the list by search, WBS element, creation date, whether the label has been printed, or the date it was last printed.
  2. Tick the assets to label — several at once, or all shown — and the number of copies.
  3. Display Barcode shows the labels: each asset’s barcode object as a barcode, with its number, description, WBS and location. Print, or Save as PDF.

Every print is recorded, so "Printed" and "Last Printed Date" are what happened, not a flag somebody set. An asset with no barcode of its own is labelled with its asset number.
