Which suppliers an enquiry goes to
A supplier is registered for the spend categories it supplies; publishing a sourcing event sends the enquiry to everyone registered for the event’s category, and you can name others.
A sourcing event is only as good as the suppliers who hear about it. Each supplier says which spend categories it supplies, and each event has a category, so publishing an event can reach the right suppliers without anybody listing them.
Registering a supplier for a category
- Open Supply Chain → Suppliers, find the supplier and choose Edit.
- In Registered for, pick the spend categories it supplies — Capital equipment, IT hardware, Packaging and so on. Add as many as apply.
- Save. From now on, publishing an event in any of those categories invites this supplier.
Publishing an event
- On the event’s row in Supply Chain → Strategic Sourcing → Sourcing Events, choose Publish.
- Send to every vendor registered for the category is on by default: the enquiry goes to every supplier registered for the event’s category, and each of them is emailed.
- To add suppliers who are not registered — or, with the box cleared, to invite only particular suppliers — use Suppliers to invite. Search by supplier number or name and add as many as you need.
- Publish. Anyone already invited stays invited.
- A blocked or suspended supplier cannot be invited.
- If nobody is registered for the event’s category and nobody is named, the message says so and tells you where to register suppliers: Supply Chain → Suppliers → Edit → Registered for.
